VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK (VPN)

What is VPN?

Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a private network that utilizes a public network (usually the Internet) to connect remote sites.  In the past, a dedicated connection such as a leased line had to be installed between sites to create a secure private network.  However, owing to the extremely high cost in this implementation, VPN is invented to make use of the public network to carry out accomplish the same goal.  The VPN mechanism employs encryption measures to create a secure virtual network.
